How Telehealth Visits Work in Georgia
Georgia residents see us by secure video. You will need a smartphone, tablet, or computer with a camera and a private space for your visit. After scheduling, you will receive a secure link by email and any intake paperwork to complete before your first appointment.
Telehealth is appropriate for many psychiatric concerns, but not all. If your situation requires in-person evaluation, hospital-level care, or a controlled substance that we are unable to prescribe via telehealth in your state, we will let you know and help you find the right next step.
Insurance and Payment
Insurance acceptance varies by state and plan. We recommend contacting MJB Holistic directly before scheduling your first visit so we can verify your benefits and explain any out-of-pocket costs. We will be straightforward about what your plan does and does not cover.
If your plan is not in-network, we can discuss self-pay options or provide a superbill you may submit to your insurer for possible out-of-network reimbursement.

Do I have to live in Georgia to be seen as a Georgia patient?
Yes. Telehealth across state lines is regulated by where the patient is physically located at the time of the visit. To be seen as a Georgia patient, you need to be physically present in Georgia during your appointments.
Is a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner the same as a psychiatrist?
No. A psychiatrist is a medical doctor (MD or DO). A Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) is an advanced-practice registered nurse with graduate training in psychiatric mental health. Both can evaluate, diagnose, and prescribe psychiatric medications, working within their state's scope-of-practice rules.
Can you prescribe controlled substances in Georgia via telehealth?
Some controlled medications can be prescribed via telehealth and some cannot, depending on federal and state rules and your specific clinical situation. We will discuss what is and is not appropriate during your evaluation and adjust the plan if an in-person visit is required by law or by your clinical needs.
What if I have a mental health emergency?
If you are in crisis or having thoughts of harming yourself or others, call or text 988 (the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline), call 911, or go to your nearest emergency room. Telehealth visits are scheduled appointments and are not appropriate for emergencies.
How do I know if MJB Holistic is the right fit?
